Jeffrey Alan Kahane Performs and Conducts
A veritable rock star of the classical world, Jeffrey Alan Kahane has led some of the world's most highly esteemed orchestras. Assuming the title Music Director Laureate of the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra after a highly successful 20 year tenure, the virtuoso returns to guest conduct the Phoenix Symphony in a program of the classical era's greatest composers.
While many an audience member may have experienced Kahane's passionate conducting first hand, his prowess as a performing pianist has flown somewhat under the radar. In an exciting twist, he'll be leading the orchestra through Mozart's poetic Piano Concerto No. 22 from the keyboard! Thereafter the conductor will return to his position at the head of the ensemble for the PSO's trademark rendition of Bartok's Concerto for Orchestra, bringing the evening to a close with Dvorak's sonorous Nocturne fo Strings.
