High stakes, hilarious satire and a love of all-things theatre
Written by Tony Award winning writer Tony McNally, this 'play within a play' parody of Broadway theatre exhibits clever comedy and big laughs at the Phoenix Theatre. With the best of friends, television stars, a brand new producer, a scatty leading lady, a director and an infamous drama critic all in one room in Manhattan - what could possibly go wrong?
The play follows the story of new Broadway producer Julia Budder and playwright Peter Austin with the rest of their cast and crew nervously awaiting the late-night news reviews for their first show. With high stakes, a host of kooky characters and high drama on the tribulations of their opening night - this hilarious play accounts the raucous and wild excitements and arguments from the theatrical bunch that only an opening night could deliver.
It's Only a Play will perform at the oldest arts organisation in Arizona and by the largest regional theatre company in the Valley, at Phoenix Theatre, from January 24th - February 11th 2018.
