Enter a wild world of sword and sandals fantasy with this novel production from the Arizona Opera, Hercules Vs Vampires. Played live in front of a big screen projection of Mario Bava's 1961 movie Hercules in the Haunted World, this technicolor opera from Patrick Morganelli sees the performers in sync with the recording, replacing all dialogue with song. Action packed with romance, sword fighting beefcakes and epic scenes, we guarantee this reworking of the retro classic is unlike anything you've seen at the opera before!
Commissioned by Opera Theatre Oregon, this off-beat piece premiered in Portland in 2010, before a revival from the LA Opera in 2015. Inspired by the drama and vision of Bava's original, he has given new life to the movie, letting a new generation of audiences enjoy the high camp madness of this cult classic.
